THE BORDEAUX "TRIANGLE", TEMPLE OF GOOD TASTE
Bounded by the Cours de l'Intendance, the Cours Georges-Clémenceau and the Cours Xavier-Arnozan, this sector of Bordeaux brings together elegant districts where luxury shops, theatres and some of Bordeaux's finest restaurants are concentrated. Airy, lively, with beautiful classical facades, this "triangle" offers wide views over the squares of La Comédie, Tourny and Les Quinconces.

Les Grands-Hommes, a neo-classical building, witnessing a new era of urban planning following the troubled periods of the Revolution, offers shops with a "very English" chic.
The Allées de Tourny became, along with the Place Royale (now called Place de la Bourse), the meeting place of Bordeaux's good society. Today the tradition has been maintained with the very classic "Dubern" brewery.

The esplanade of the Quinconces dominated by the Monument aux Girondins occupies the site of an old castle whose construction dates back to Charles VII. Built in 1829, two rostral columns are decorated with ship's bows (hence their name). They were used to guide the captains of ships entering the port of Bordeaux.
