Its privileged town centre is pedestrianised on Saturdays and offers residents and visitors a "village" spirit with high quality craftsmen and food shops (bakeries, butchers, greengrocers, wine merchants, cheese shops, chocolate makers, etc.).
The flat is a stone's throw from the Place de l'Eglise. This church, under the protection of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, is a listed monument and houses the tombs of Empress Josephine and her daughter Queen Hortense.
50 metres away, the former Town Hall now houses the town's history museum. A true memory of Rueil-Malmaison, this museum traces the history of the evolution of a small village in the Paris region, from Charles the Bald to the present day.
A few hundred metres away, you can also discover the Chateau de la Malmaison. The favourite property of Empress Josephine and Napoleon Bonaparte! A place of artistic and political memory, the castle presents the daily life of its illustrious owners.
The town is surrounded by greenery with 4 magnificent protected areas to discover with family or friends: The Impressionist Park, the Bois Préau Park, the Friendship Park and finally the St Cucufa Wood.
The Parc des Impressionnistes: a tribute to Monet located on the banks of the Seine, opposite the Ile des Impressionnistes, this park is straight out of an impressionist painting. Escape for a bucolic stroll along the water in the footsteps of the Impressionists! The Bois-Préau park and its Château, a 5-minute walk from the flat: an invitation to take a walk! A property acquired by Josephine in 1810, Bois-Préau served as an annex to Malmaison to house her doctor, her steward and members of her entourage.
Also very close to the flat, the Parc de l'Amitié is a peaceful haven of 1,500 m2, with subtle Asian notes.
The Bois de St Cucufa is also a must for those who love wide open spaces. You can stroll through the market on Tuesday and Saturday mornings. And discover high quality products at the organic market on Sunday mornings. There is a wide choice of restaurants in Rueil Malmaison, to suit all tastes and budgets.
In the immediate vicinity of the flat, don't hesitate to try the Bistrot Gourmand and Les Ecuries de Richelieu. The more intimate Deux Pièces Cuisine offers fresh products, a limited menu, affordable prices and dishes full of flavour! Finally, behind the flat, you will find a pretty square with the large terrace of Café Leffe (with a menu inspired by the great classics of the brasserie), a tapas restaurant and the Long Island, a trendy bar with happy hours. For bistronomes, Norbert Tarayre's (TOP CHEF) restaurant, SAPRISTI, has just opened and we have already had very positive feedback from our travellers!
