Around
The park side. Big free cross-border park (9:00–19:00), with playgrounds, barbecue areas, a small carousel in season, and the planet garden. The Mimram footbridge in the middle is the point of the visit: you walk from France into Germany in about two minutes, and the view up and down the Rhine is the best in the area.
The Kehl side. Ten minutes past the bridge, the Weißtannenturm is a free wooden lookout tower — stairs only, but a 360° panorama over the Rhine and the whole eastern edge of Strasbourg. Kehl's centre and City Center mall are a bit further for German shopping, closed Sundays.
The COOP site, back on the French side in the Deux-Rives quarter, is the more interesting half for an adult afternoon: old cooperative warehouses converted into Les Ateliers Éclairés (craft workshops and street art, Wed–Sat 14:00–19:00), Kaléidoscoop with its café and solidarity shop under a glass roof, and Le Cric for occasional concerts.
Eating. Bateau du Rhin is a moored barge near the Port du Rhin tram stop — simple food, terrace on the water, live music Thursday to Saturday evenings. Closed Sundays. Otherwise the quarter is still thin on restaurants; Neudorf is five minutes back on the tram.
Saturday is the day that works best — everything on the COOP site is open, and the German shops still are too.
